We were using another veterinarian and while at the lake, out little Westie, in her excitement, caught her foot in the fishing lure. She buried it deeply before we could get her to calm down. We called around to see if there was a vet close by Canton but none available over the Easter weekend. Dr. Reid not only told us he would meet us but came directly after church to the Pet Hospital to perform surgery to remove the hook. She had to be sedated and she came through the surgery great! then she developed a small knot on her foot which turned out to be cancer. they removed the cancer and one of her toes and again, she did wonderful through the whole procedure. Feb, 2014, she was diagnosed as having a chest full of tumors. Dr. Reid gave us the grave news and explained our options for treatment. He also provided us hope that there was a 10% chance of recovery if it was fungal tumors and not cancerous tumors. she had lost almost 3 pounds, wasn't eating and had difficulty breathing. Instead of just putting her done, he gave us medication that would treat the disease and give her a better quality of life, increase her appetite, and treat the fungus (which was an extremely rare option). Izzy has rebounded back to better health, is eating very well and breathing better. We don't know if it is a direct result of the prayers, the medication he prescribed or a brief period of better wellness to prepare us for her passing. Even so, it allows us time to give her the last act of love in a dignified and humane way. He follows up personally and calls you to find out the condition of your baby.
