The Summit Historical Society offers visitors and residents a variety of ways to learn Summit County, Colorado's history. Your.membership to the Historical Society offers a few bonuses, which include publications, galas, and the opportunity to volunteer for a number of projects. One of the most fascinating exhibits at the Summit Historical Society is the Barney Ford House Museum. This Victorian home was restored as a tribute to Barney Ford, who was lucky enough to escape slavery via the Underground Railroad. Later, he would achieve great success in Breckenridge as a prominent businessman, civic leader, black rights advocate, as well as a mine owner.
