Review content:
My husband took me to Spicer Castle for Valentine's Day in 2004. I had always wanted to go to one of their Murder Mystery dinners and it was the perfect opportunity. A couple of our friends joined us as well.
In planning the weekend, we used their website to book the rooms. We found the website extremely helpful with complete descriptions of each room, a sample menu for the dinner and examples of scenarios that the Murder Mystery could be. Once booked, we received a confirmation package in the mail along with invitations to our characters for the evening.
Spicer was just the right distance to get out of the city but not be too far from home. It was easy to find from the directions on the website. We checked in and got settle in our rooms and then went downstairs to meet some of the other guests staying there.
Then it was time to get ready for the evening. We all got dressed in our costumes and headed down for dinner. Everything was delicious from the hors d'ouerves to the dessert. The Murder Mystery was fun and much of it was due to the enthusiasm of the hosts.
Breakfast was also a nice spread and the host was there to share more information on the history of the Spicer Castle and how he came to be there. Everyone was so friendly and helpful and really made us feel comfortable there.
The rooms all had distinct characteristics. Our room was comfortable and cozy. The owners helped my husband order flowers so there was a dozen roses waiting for us in the room when we arrived along with a box of chocolates for Valentine's Day.
We had a very fun and memorable experience at Spicer Castle and would recommend it as a getaway for anyone in the Twin Cities looking for something different to do.
