I went into have an emissions test done on my truck. They failed my truck saying the check engine light came on. They tried to sell me a diagnostic service; saying it was probably my turbo that was bad. In their showroom, they have a turbo on display. If it was my turbo, you're looking at several thousand dollars to repair. I told them I have a code reader to see why the light came on. There is no evidence that it came on, since it would show. I met with the mechanic and he said that it must have been a ""soft code"". Dealer has no idea what I was talking about when I asked them about a soft code. I took my truck to another diesel emissions place, which does not do any type repairs and it passed with flying colors. I had a similar experience several years ago here. I figured I would give them another try and I had the same results.
