Review content:
I was a new patient at Lyndhurst yesterday and I have to say that I will not be going back. One of the receptionists (Leigh) was hardly friendly and said all of 10 words to me the entire time I stood there. No ""Wecome to Lyndhurst, nice to meet you"" or even so much as a ""Hello"" with a friendly smile."" I've worked in a medical office before as front desk/check out desk and we were trained to be very friendly and inviting to ALL patients, but especially our new patients. It makes a BIG difference when the first person the patient sees makes a good impression through genuine kindness. My appointment was with D. Zimmermann (PA-C). This was only my 2nd time going to the GYN - I had moved from Raleigh to Winston and needed my annual exam. The nurse asked quite a few questions and was informed that I am not sexually active (I am a virgin - waiting til marriage) and that I wanted to talk about my birth control (which I take for PMS/headaches/acne) and how it was affecting my mood and overall ""desires"". When the PA came in she apparently didn't know any of this because she asked me about whether or not I was on birth control, I said yes that I wanted to talk to her about it and how it makes me feel and my lack of ""desire"" because it doesn't feel normal to me. She started talking about how switching BC can help but some women just have to go to condoms and blahblahblah. If she would have looked at my chart, she would have known that I have no need for condoms because I'm not sexually active. She starts my exam and makes small talk through the ENTIRE thing... maybe that works for SOME people but NOT for me. I want to know what the doctor is doing before its done... I want to feel COMFORTABLE and CALM and I think its the doctor's responsibility to notice whether or not you are calm or anxious before they start. Well, I was very far from being comfortable and I almost jumped out of the chair when she started.... MAYBE it would have helped if she would have known that I've never had sex before. Only after my exam is when she found this out. And she seemed perplexed by the fact that I have chosen to not have sex but I am concerned about my ""desire."" OK-- you ladies don't have to be doctors to know that every woman whether she is sexually active or NOT should still have a DESIRE and would be concerned if there was a lack of it - especially if they have a boyfriend. \r My first GYN Doctor approached me TOTALLY differently than Zimmerman did.... my experience with Zimmerman was not good at all. She is a nice lady.... but you could tell that she just wanted to do my exam and leave - she made no effort to really listen and talk with me about birth control, no effort to make sure I was comfortable, did NOT ask the questions that she should have so she didn't know what kind of patient she was dealing with. I cannot speak for the other Doctors at Lyndhurst and what kind of experience you might have with them, but I was very displeased with my experience as a whole - so I will not be going back and I would not recommend this place.
