Review content:
When I first moved to Washington in 1997, the Red Sage was just easing down from its ride of being one of THE places to be and be seen in DC. Still, it can hold its own among the glitzier restaurants in this town. Once, during our previous president's blue dress troubles, I was walking past the Red Sage and almost got knocked down by a gaggle of paparazzi racing for the front door. Seconds later, a limousine pulled up to the curb and a man and a woman, arms linked, stepped slowly out and walked into the restaurant. It was Monica Lewinsky and her lawyer. These days, you're not likely to spot celebrities here, but lobbyists, interns, journalists and other DC types still like it. Upstairs is a bar and restaurant, with very, very good Tex-Mex food, all freshly prepared. The atmosphere is congenial. Downstairs are private rooms and a more luxurious restaurant. Prices are moderate.
