I had Zumpanos Mole enchiladas and my gf had the chimichanga. My girlfriend is from Mexico and I am a big fan of Mexican. If you like La Perla or La Fuente, this place is for you. If you like authentic Mexican or flavorful food, this place is not for you. It was beautifully prepared, had very interesting ingredients (pork and plantain appetizer) but just didn't pack any pu nch taste wise. The black beans that come on the side of many entrees were burned. I was really bummed after this meal. The waitress let my beer sit empty for 15 minutes and was at our table twice while was empty. Deep house, downtempo or lounge music with latin undertones would have fit the atmosphere of this place perfectly. Instead it was an awkward mix of spanish language top 40. Reggaeton at dinner? No thanks. I was so excited to come here because of the appearance, the menu and the chef with all his accolades. After reading his bio, I was shocked this food is anything less than excellent. It is far far below excellent. I understand this place isn't your typical mom and pop simple mexican spot on lincoln or greenfield but I think they would do well to get back to the roots a bit and see what makes mexican food mexican. They have definitely lost site of that at this place.....mexican food should never not pack a pu nch flavor wise. Pros: Decor. Location. Menu. Cons: Food. Service. Ambience.
