I may have just had the best service experience in recent memory, without exaggeration.
I stumbled upon this suit shop out of desperation and went in blind. On the day of the opening night to the losangeles phantom of opera night, my wife and I were invited by my boss to be his guests at this black tie event. I don't own a tux. My boss told me to go out and find a rental.
I got on line and scrambled for numbers. I called After Hours Formalwear...err, now MW (Men's Wearhouse) Tux and they were wiped out across the city, I called ......... tux ...nothing. And no recommendations from anyone.
I took a chance and called Tuxedo Rental Woodlandhills, an obscure Mall business that I never noticed once in 6 years working within three blocks of it. You would never know this suit shop is a top-notch Tuxedo rental spot, because they only advertise tuxedos online. And you wouldn't pay any attention to the place because it's on the second floor of a small promenade mall.
I called and spoke to a guy named Robert, who sensed my anxieties and quickly put me at ease. Of course he had plenty of tuxedos for tonight. Of course he could get me in right away.
I drove over and within 20 minutes I was fitted, altered and out the door with a brand new high quality tuxedo. I had plenty of choices from from big names and styles ranging from the classic tux to the Euro Oscar Night stuff. The guys there were so attentive, so courteous and they left me a very happy customer. Honestly, I've rented tuxedos about 10 times in my life and this is the nicest, cleanest, sharpest look I've ended up with. The alterations were dead on.
To cap it, I was sick as a dog with the flu on the day I was supposed to return it. I called in and they were more than happy to take it back the next day, no questions asked. They even waited for me after mall hours..
After everything, suit, shoes, accessories, tax, I dropped about $165 for a 4/day rental, not that much more than I would have paid for an overused, poorly altered tuxedo at one of the bigger shops. Given previous experiences I'm sure I would have been hit with a fat late fee had I gone elsewhere.
