UPDATE: \r
\r
After a very long day schlepping and moving furniture thai was the only thing that sounded like a good idea for dinner. Being too tired to drive out to Dearborn and seeing some better reviews from others I decided to give Thai Vylai another shot. I was pleasantly surprised with my experience. I decided to get a bunch of different things to see what was good. We ordered the crispy rolls, apple salad, pork yellow curry, chicken string beans with ginger sauce, and beef pad se'ew.\r
\r
The crispy rolls were tasty - not crispy but this was a carryout order and I didn't really expect them to be. The apple salad was phenomenal and crave-worthy - I plan on ordering this repeatedly in the future! The pork yellow curry was solid; no real complaints and I've only had it one other time from a place in Southgate and Thai Vylai's was better. The chicken string beans with ginger sauce was good nothing special and could be made at home but it was still not bad. The beef pad se'ew was good but kind of on the sweet side and I still prefer it in Dearborn.\r
\r
This was my third stop at Thai Vylai and I hadn't been back since shortly after they opened. It could be that whatever kinks they had have worked themselves out. I still believe that the restaurant is overpriced in comparison to others but with that said I will without a doubt be back. I will most likely pass on the entrees and make a dinner out of the apple salad and crispy rolls!!\r

OLD REVIEW:\r
\r
I was excited for the opening of this restaurant and sadly the food is just okay. I figured that it would be worth not having to make the drive out to Bangkok 96 (which is really good) but unfortunately this restaurant's prices have already gone up! I stopped by today and ordered Pad Se'ew (not sure why this isn't spelled correctly on the take-out menu!) went in to pick it up and my LUNCH was going to be close to $12.00. Completely unacceptable to raise prices after being open for 2 weeks. Sadly my office and I will not be going back.
