On or about 4-13-11, Matchbox Hauling delivered a dumpster to the neighbor across the street from me. After seeing the dumpster in my neighbors driveway, I noticed a mound of dirt in my yard directly across from where the dumpster was. I checked it out to find deep tire impressions from a heavy truck. I contacted the dumpster company, Matchbox Hauling, from the phone# on the dumpster. They said I needed to speak with Ken, who I would assume is Ken Hohlt-Vice President/General Manager of the company. He didn't cal me back. I called again the next day and this time was able to speak with him. He said the driver told him he HAD to drive on my property to drop off the dumpster. I asked Ken if he thought it was OK to trespass on someones property without asking first. He never answered the question. What he did say was that he would make it right and repair my yard. He sounded genuine. He is a liar. He had a dumpster he had to still pick up and he was appeasing me until he could pick his dumpster up. I spoke with the driver one day when he came to pick up the dumpster but couldn't because the neighbor had overfilled it. The driver actually made the statement that he thought my yard was an unoccupied lot. He knew full well that wasn't true. There isn't anywhere near enough room to build a house between mine and my next door neighbor's house unless you turn one of our houses into a duplex. He was trying to make an excuse, plain and simple. The day the driver returned to pick up the dumpster, I was listening for him because we had a bad rainstorm the night before and I was not going to allow them in the yard under ANY circumstances. I heard the truck approaching down the street. I was in the middle of something and couldn't immediately get outside but was able to in under 1 min.. When I opened the door, I was able to see the back of the dumpster as the driver sped away. I bet he set a record for picking up a long dumpster and driving away. I bet he didn't secure it properly, at least not until he got away from my house somewhat. He's the thing, he didn't drive in my yard at all when he picked it up! He didn't even come close because I could see wet tire tracks from where he had just driven and he didn't even have to swing wide to drive off. I called the company and spoke to Ken Hohlt, the VP/GM of Matchbox hauling, and he told me the driver took photos of the damage and said there wasn't any and he wasn't going to waste his time. He got his dumpster back and got away with trespassing. I called the Jeff. Co Sheriff Dept. and sought to seek a trespassing and property damage charge placed against him and was told that because I had accepted his original offer to take care of it, that there was nothing they could do and that I would have to take it up with him civilly. The damage wasn't all that great(but was more than just stepping some dirt down and part of it needed filling because of the marks left from the weight of the truck), it was the idea that they saw NOTHING WRONG with driving on private property with a heavy truck without asking first. I was home the day it was dropped off. The driver admitted he didn't try to ask me first. Ken Hohlt was all sweet and nice while his dumpster sat across the street but as soon as he got it back it was ""screw you, there was no damage!"" This is one of the many things wrong with this country. The total lack of respect for other people and the law does nothing. They make you have to do it. This company is despicable and should not be patronized.
