Last year my husband and I found it necessary to petition for bankruptcy and we started our search for a bankruptcy attorney who would do a good job and charge a fair rate. We went to an informational meeting with a Portland attorney who stuck some papers in our face for us to sign as soon as he finished his spiel. We didn?t know how this whole bankruptcy thing went and we had a certain number of days to answer a lawsuit filed against my husband. So under duress we signed the papers and then his associate started to call to solicit our business and ask us to send in our $500 to start the BK process. Since we were in a hurry to have the attorney file the court paperwork on our behalf we gave them our money. We later found out how much was due and owing and how much they were charging us just to ask simple questions to this lawyers assistant. We also compared prices with some other bankruptcy attorneys in the area and found out that their Chapter 7 bankruptcy prices were equivalent to
