After experiencing intermittent pain in my abdomen area for several years, having undergone numerous tests, I was sent for an ultrasound. The resultant image showed a gallstone the size of a jumbo gumball. I was immediately referred to a surgeon and became afraid. In my mind, the title SURGEON means "in the business to cut through skin and remove tissue" - MINE! I was not happy about it. The research began. There were pros and cons. I believed that God put the gallbladder in me for a reason, why remove it! I considered holistic methods for treatment and other alternatives. \r \r Needless to say, I arrived at the office dressed in anxiety. Dr. McKenna was confident and personable, but not cocky. Pleasant and professional, serious and direct. He explained the procedure in detail. In lay language, he answered all my questions and even warned me that, because of the size of my stone, the holistic approach would be dangerous. He advised against it.
