Dr. Savage-Pedigo was one of the only pediatrician's in town that I could locate on my insurance panel who was taking new patients. When I arrived for my child's 3 year well visit, approximately 30 minutes early, I was taken back immediately as the nurse commented they ""were bored."" This is was not a good sign and was the beginning of one of the worst visits to a physician I have ever experienced. While Dr. Pedigo had a good bedside manner and enagaged well with my child, some of her nursing staff were abrasive, rude, and appeared to lack compassion toward my child who is petrified of going to the doctor. While I can imagine that screaming children are not fun to treat, I'm sure my daughter is not the first upset child that has been in their office. The nurse who took labwork appeared angry when I asked about what the labwork would be analyzing. After she pricked my child's finger, my child became noticeably upset and the nurse began yelling at her, told her if she didn't calm down she'd have to stick her finger again, and at one point thereatened to restrain her. Four nurses tried to take an oral temperature from my child (I since have learned that at this age an ear or under arm temperature is typically taken) and despite my protests against a rectal temperature I was coerced to having one taken. The whole experience was awful and traumatic not only for my daughter but also myself. Pros: Dr Pedio appeared to work well with my child Cons: The nursing staff appeared to lack compassion; was coerced into a procedure I did not want
