Traffic can deflate the romantic aura you are likely seeking when you dine at Geoffrey's, so plan ahead. If you are counting on a view of the sunset while you dine, and you are not a Malibu local, you will likely have to drive over 20 miles during rush hour, which means 25-40 mph on PCH with long waits at stoplights. That translates into 40-50 minutes or more from Santa Monica.
As for other tips, I concur with the poster who suggested asking for a table for two along the outer rail. They will say ""We'll do our best"" when you ask, which may sound ingenuine, but their accomodating behavior when we arrived seemed to confirm that statement. We were seated at the table we asked for after a brief wait despite being 35 minutes late.
