_06/23/2010 - I signed up with Urban Active about 9 months ago and have found my experience to be less than. First off, the desk staff never acknowledge you, (considering my membership is paying their salary) just snatch your keychain out of your hand and swipe you through. I have taken to stopping and saying hello how are you before I move from the desk. I don't care how busy you think you are, you need to acknowledge me. Second, this $15 semi-annual fee; the first came out in Jan and the second in July. Based on the number of people I see in there weekly, I should see some new machines by now. I have not witnessed any anywhere throughout the facility. I'm talking brand new stuff should have arrived by now. That is a rip off. Third, the exercise/yoga room. It is extremely disturbing to have yoga in this dirty, stinky room and outside of it, people are dropping weights that move the floor and loud TVs and music going on. Totally takes away from the yoga experience. Need a separate room for yoga away from the weight room. Fourth and final, STAY AWAY FROM THE PERSONAL TRAINING. They will offer you a so-called free session. It turns into a bully session by the Training Mgr. Jack Junkett. It was 2 on 1. I never felt so bullied in my life. The cost is almost $200/month and I told them that does not meet my budget at all. They have high turnover of personal training staff. They will start to take it down to almost $66/month and I ended up signing the contract on the pad. I did not provide my card information and after I thought about it, I cancelled. They informed me that I could not cancel and now I am afraid that crap is on my credit report. This place is not the best. While it has lots of exercise equipment and loud music, may want to try it out before you sign up. Fitworks on Wilson Mills is much better, smaller and more personable. The price is affordable too. Pros: Lots of equipment, usually available, decent location Cons: Rude employees, Personal training high pressure tactics
