Review content:
We took our pup in for an emergency leg break late on Friday evening. The facility was filthy. The staff was the watch the clock type - It was pretty clear they didn't care about the pets coming through their door.
Doctor Ridge was incredibly cold and patronizing, i am sure he is competent but his people skills leave a lot to be desired.
I mentioned as i have been trained to do by my breeder that anesthesia is a major concern with Italian Greyhounds and they must be very carefully monitored or they will not come out of it and he reacted as if i had insulted him by voicing my concern for my pet. Bear in mind i had just watched my dog snap her leg not 20 minutes earlier and he was belittling my concerns for her.
250 dollars and one bandage later, we left there feeling like their first concern was soaking the customer instead of caring for an injured animal.
Pain medication was not only not offered but was refused because ""animals don't feel pain like people"", but he did give us antibiotics to start the pup on for surgery prep and offered us the option to return on Sunday for surgery or wait for our family vet on Monday. He informed us that it would not harm the dog to wait a few days till the swelling went down before surgery...Needless to say, after my experience there i called another vet to make sure this was acceptable to do and was told it was.
This ofcourse allowed me to take a step back and reasses if we wanted to take our baby back there for surgery or wait till monday for our family vet.
I agonized about keeping pup in temporary splint for an additional day but I just couldn't bring myself to put my baby in their hands. Their demeanor really undermined my ability to trust them under any circumstances.
When we arrived at home we discovered that the carelessness of the staff extended to even the disc of x-rays that we paid for. They gave us somebody else's x-rays.
Four times I attempted to get the correct x-rays emailed and received multiple excuses as to why they were not sending them. First it was they were busy and would get to it, then it was that the doctor would send them, then it was that only the doctor could release them and it would have to wait till he did it, and finally on the fourth attempt they told me they didn't have email, to call back later and hung up.
Avoid this vet at all costs.
