Review content:
There are many ""Japanese"" restaurants in the area, but Umeya is the only one where i felt it was authentic. Many of these other so called restaurants are run by chinese or korean but umeya is different. From the interior to the food everything just says Japanese. The sushi chefs are especially great. They don't speak English very well but they food is outstanding. I went to dine with 2 of my friends on a Friday, the place was packed with people. Its not a big place. The service was a little slow but that didn't matter once we got the food. The salad dressing is AMAZING. The sashimi and the sushi were all fresh. I work in a restaurant myself and i love sushi so i prided myself on knowing so many different fish. But some of the fish that i got on my Sushi Omakase i didn't have a clue what they were. I asked the waiter and he was very helpful in telling me the names and where they were from it was great. Every piece had a distinct taste. The shrimp tempura here was the biggest ive ever seen and tasted great. The dessert menu was small but their green tea icecream was just scrumptious. Overall i had a great time here. I recommend to anyone that enjoys sushi.
Pros: Food, atmosphere, knowledge of Japanese cuisine
Cons: Slow service at first
