Review content:
Henry Davidsen is owned and operated by Brian. He is by no means a tailor and certainly not a masterful one- so the name of the business is very misleading. When you first visit with Brian - he will give you an excellent presentation which will make it difficult for you to walk out of his store without having purchased something. The fact of the matter is - Brian will take your measurements and then have your order shipped to an Asian country where the suit is actually made. As a result the person making the suit ( the tailor) - the most important person in the whole suit making process-never gets to see or measure the client nor develop a client/tailor relationship which is very essential in the suit making process. Therefore, the suit Brian sells you will never fit as well as a tailored made suit should. If you are a discerning client this will bother you-it certainly bothered me. My vest was way too short and ended way above the belt buckle and the pants were made horribly. The waist was too big and the the inseam was sewn improperly leading to a very baggy fitting. Since Brian was not the person actually making the alterations and at the time I had my suit made there was no onsite tailor I had to go back to him several times for fittings and measurements. He would then bring it back to tailor to make the alterations. So you can imagine this was a very long painstaking process. After many trips to his shop he was able to get the pants to fit somewhat properly. Quite frankly, my Banana Republic pants fit better than the ones Brian gave me. At the end I ran out of patience and time and just took the pants as they were. I had to spend another 100 dollars and take them to a reputable tailor in Main Line to fix the sub-par job done by H. Davidsen. If you are looking for a level perhaps slightly above department store garments this might be the place for you. But if you want a genuine custom bespoke fitted suit and you are a very observant and savvy dresser with a keen eye this is not the place for you. My recommendation would be to shop around for authentic bespoke tailors -there are plenty outside of the city and in NYC. I know my review may be hard for some to believe considering the number of positive preceding reviews. But I have detailed my experience with H. Davidsen. Having been around friends in the fashion industry for sometime I believe I can spot bespoke tailoring and unfortunately Henry Davidsen just doesn't deliver.
