Review content:
For those in the military you often see inflated real estate markets, especially in the renters market. However, no where in my time in the military have I seen such blatant exploitation of renters by a real estate agency than I have with Re/Max of Enterprise, AL. These people know exactly how much BAH Soldiers are making and you can be sure they have matched their rent with it. This does not only hurt Soldiers renting, but it really takes advantage of those who purchases a property. There is absolutely no way that a two bed room town house should go for anything above 90K. But you can be sure that it is exactly what is going on to Soldiers. If these properties were bought and sold for what they were actually worth, the owners and renters would be the ones benefiting, not real estate agencies with their commissions. Imagine if Fort Rucker moved, these companies would immediately fail because they run a business built on the exploitation of those they should be serving fairly.
Furthermore, my experience is that if you are looking to get a sizable portion of your deposit back you will be sadly taken advantage of. When I recently moved out, I hired a Soldiers wife to come and clean the property. I gave here 70$ for about 3hrs of work. Fairly good pay. When Re/Max came to inspect my property I was told that they were going to have to bring in professionals to clean. Now keep in mind that when I moved in their was bugs, dirt, dust, and a odd smell throughout the townhouse. I was told that I should mark down everything on my home inspection form. I did and thought I wouldn't be held responsible for items on the inspection list. Boy was I wrong. I haven't received the final tally, but I imagine I will probably only receive a small fraction of my 1,100$ deposit, that is right, 1100$ for a 3 bedroom townhouse.
Here is my advice, rent elsewhere. Do your homework? Obviously, I should never have signed on a place for 1,100$ a month. When talking with Re/MAx i was told that the place was gorgeous with new appliances and special features. The walls weren't even painted properly. They used cheap primer paint throughout the property. The appliances weren't even new.......disappointed you bet...when PCSing you often take people for their word. I won't do that again. Also, I just talked with a buddy that had a similar experience with them. He said the cleaning service cost him 230$. Now your going to tell me that two cleaning people were paid 230$ for 4 hrs. That's more than 25$ an hour, to clean. Hey if that's what maids/cleaning people make sign me up..............as I close my rant I wish only for service members to take their business elsewhere.....ReMax surely hasn't earned it
