Review content:
I had originally contacted Black Mountain Stove & Chimney as well as other companies in the Asheville, NC area requesting quotes and estimates in regard to installing a direct vent fireplace insert in my home. The owner, was over two hours late in showing up to my home to quote the job. He was complaining about how his back was hurting him. My first impression and thoughts were this guy is already dishing out the excuses, but I gave him a chance to give an estimate. The next day I received an astronomically high itemized quote via email from Black Mountain Stove and Chimney. Over twice the monies that Blossman Gas Inc. was quoting for essentially the same product. I ended up with a Regency B36XTE Gas Fireplace from Blossman.\r
\r
The total estimate in and of itself is not where my problem with Black Mountain Stove & Chimney arises. In the itemized quote I received from them they quoted $250.00 for the removal of my old detached chimney. I thought that was a good price so I called their office and left a message with the receptionist requesting a contract. The receptionist gave me the run around telling me that in reality the job would cost from $800.00- $1000.00. The ""boss man"" would be busy for the next five days and would return on Monday between 2:00 and 3:00 to re-quote the estimate. I agreed since I was getting several estimates anyways. \r

Fast forward to Monday 4:30 PM over 1 and a half hours after our appointment time. I see a black Ford F-150 pull into my FRONT YARD! I walk outside to see who it is and lo and behold its Black Mtn Stove & Chimney. He quickly reverses and pulls into my driveway. He doesn't apologize for being late or driving onto my lawn. He doesn't even get out of his truck. He states from the driver seat its going to be around $1200.00 maybe more. I laughed because earlier I had Carolina Custom Exteriors quote me $500.00 for the exact same job. ""Boss man"" then states, ""Thanks for wasting my time"" I said, ""No Problem Bye Bye"" I WOULDN'T CONTRACT BLACK MOUNTAIN STOVE & CHIMNEY FOR A JOB IF THEY WERE THE LAST FIREPLACE COMPANY ON THE FACE OF THE EARTH. BUYER BEWARE!!! DON'T DO IT!
