Review content:
Getting my first tattoo was huge...the tattoo as well as the experience. I needed something to memorialize my friend who had passed away and it had to be something I'd be proud to wear for life. (NOTE: I've avoided tattoos for all of my 39 years, even when gently prodded by the very best friend who passed.) After a ton of research I decided to walk into Tigerlily. I was greeted by Igor in a very clean and sterile setting that also had a fun vibe. Igor and another artist who was in the middle of a session helped me with ideas. They wisely advised me to pick something my buddy loved that could be incorporated into a tribute without making me sad every time I looked in the mirror. I settled on the FN 5.7 gun with his intials in the grip and smoke from the chamber spelling out EOW. When I was ready, Igor was out of the country but I felt a great connection with Amy and her work. I didn't want a cartoon look for obvious reasons. The day of the tat I was nervous as hell but she reassured me and explained everything from what I'd feel to the importance of breathing. She had a gentle and deft hand. Her shading and creative technique with the smoke letters blew me away. It took a little over 3 hours but I never felt overwhelmed or bored. The time passed quickly and I had fun cracking jokes with her. I've received tons of compliments on it, especially from those who have been inked more than once. It healed quickly, never scabbed and only peeled a tiny bit. If I ever decide to get another, it will be at Tigerlily. Pros: Talented, professional, fun and creative artists all around. Cons: Parking can be a bit sparse depending on the time of day.
