We are sorry to read that we did not meet your expectations leading up to the diagnosis of multiple cavities in your son's teeth. Dr. Stafford strives to address all parental concerns, and it is regrettable that you feel she failed to do this. While we always strongly encourage a second opinion with another pediatric dentist, it is worth noting that Dr. Stafford would stand by her diagnosis. As a pediatric dental specialist, she has received an additional two years of intensive training to be able to recognize the special needs of children and primary teeth. Without x-rays, a full diagnosis can not truly be determined as many cavities are between teeth which can not be seen solely by the naked eye.\r

It is our standard policy to follow up with patients who have been diagnosed for treatment. When a parent declines to follow through on a treatment plan, we are compelled to dismiss that patient from our practice since we would still be responsible for potential negative outcomes resulting from not having followed through on the treatment. We apologize that we did not handle this more delicately. Furthermore, the entire team of World of Smiles have specific training and certifications through the Board of Dentistry. We are dedicated to exceptional oral healthcare and therefore pride ourselves on providing the most complete dental advice and information to our families to promote a lifetime of excellent oral health; just as your pediatrician provides information to families to promote overall health and well-being.\r

We will continue to strive for happy kids, healthy teeth, and positive dental visits.
