I have a beautiful 7-year old boxer who had been on heart worm preventative medicine until last summer when I could not afford it due to financial issues. As a result, I found out she tested positive last month during her regular exam. I was heartbroken!! The vet tech showed me a written estimate to treat her that amounted to over $820!!! I can't afford to do that treatment! I sat in my car sobbing for 10 minutes before I could even leave their parking lot!! (My dog is my baby!! She sleeps with me every night curled up in my bed with me!!) She shows no typical signs of having the disease--no coughing, lethargy, or loss of appetite. From what I researched it takes 6-7 months for them to reach the heart and begin to do damage. Next, I called others vets in my area and found most places only charged between $400-500 for the same treatment! Same exact medicine and everything! I also found out there is a method called "slow-kill" that I thought fit my dog's situation better since she still runs and plays like she always has. I called Midway Animal Clinic back to discuss what I had researched, and they put Dr. Hanes on the phone with me and he immediately began to raise his voice at me (like a parent scolding a child) telling me that he hated the internet and when people researched in order to try to tell the vet how to treat their pets! He also said that if I didn't believe he had my dog's best interest at heart I needed to find another doctor. He also said they do not "match" what other vets charge for the service and he would not work with me on the price (even though I have been unemployed for 3 years). He then very curtly told me the conversation was over and I needed to find another doctor for my dog. Well, I did find another doctor for my dog! I took her back to a place in Kernersville where I had taken both of my dogs before. They are always very kind and caring! I DO NOT recommend Midway Animal Clinic at all!!! If this is the way he talks to someone who has just found out their beloved pet has something that c
