Review content:
I grew up in Rochester, NY with Wegman's Food Markets. My grandmother played with the Wegman's and watched the family turn a small neighborhood grocery store into the country's top Company to Work For. And certainly the Country's Top Market to shop in!
You'll never find a selection of fine, interesting, fresh foods like this anywhere else in the country. Fresh baked breads and desserts. Cheeses from all over the world. Organic foods and holistic products. And basic plastic wrap and school supplies. Wegman's has everything you can think of.
There are only two drawbacks. The Pharmacy departments tend to have a high staff turn over and low stock of drug products. They quite often don't get the orders correct, especially with the automatic ordering system. I've been there 5 years in a row when I was on my way south for the winter, told them in advance and they didn't have my full prescriptions and wanted me to come back in a day or two.
The other drawback is that grocery and produce prices tend to be quite high. But, on the balance, especially with the quality of their deli, seafood bakery departments, you are certainly getting the quality that you would expect. And, after you pay $8 for ingredients to build your own tiramisu, $10 seems like a bargain for them to do the cooking!
