I was scheduled for a CT Scan at 2:45 p.m. Then realizing a potential scheduling conflict, I called back and asked if they had a later appointment and was told that I couldn't come later and that the 2:45 I had scheduled wouldn't work either because the doctor who had to be there for scans requiring contrast media wouldn't be staying that late. I was rescheduled for 2:15 and when I arrived was given paperwork to fill out. Before I finished, the tech came for me. I mentioned I hadn't finished the paperwork, handed it to her, and went back for the scan. Nobody ever mentioned what I had not been able to fill out on their form. I had to take the contrast dye, which can occasionally cause problems and even cause death, so I was given more papers to sign--without my glasses but I'd had one before with no problem so I squinted at it and signed. The tech warned me about the IV she had to put in by saying, ""Big stick!"" She had problems with the IV needle, and I ended up bleeding down my arm and onto the floor. She went on to the try other arm telling me what great veins I had. ""Big stick!"" After the scan, I didn't feel right. I told her I felt pressure in my head and ears. She told me to wait in the waiting room a few minutes before leaving. When I got out there I had sharp pains in my mid-to-lower back. They became severe and when I went up to the desk to tell someone, the tech offered that maybe I'd twisted my back when I got up. I told her, No, this is internal. She asked me how I felt and I said ""I feel out of it."" She said she'd go ask the doctor about it. I waited for about 15 minutes but she never came back. The pains subsided and then came back, stabbing, radiating, and then pulsing. Finally the pain stopped. I was disgusted and went to the desk and told them I was leaving. The tech appeared behind the desk too, saw me and said, Oh yeah, sorry, I was doing something else and forgot.
