Review content:
This isn't the place to go for a gourmet meal, unless you're talking desserts. It's the place to meet friends, have good, hearty food, and enjoy the wait staff. Regulars are cherished, and get more love from the staff when Harry's is their Cheers Bar, but I've almost always found the service to be pleasant, and often friendly, and almost always competent. I've eaten at Harry's off and on for 7 years. You can sit at the counter, like a diner, in the bar (which is a full bar: beer, wine, hard stuff) on stools or at the bar, or in one of the three dining rooms or even outdoors when the weather is nice. Some folks may have had a single bad experience at Harry's and written a scathing review here in revenge. Pfooey: every waiter, every restaurant, will fumble now and then. The line is long during tourist season, but the rest of the year, when there's a line, it's often a good time to meet and chat with strangers. And on Harry's worst day, it's worth coping with some temporary snarliness to get to his wife, Peyton's, pies and other desserts.\r \r Bottom line: if you're looking to put a notch on your Michelin dining belt, there are many better places in Santa Fe to get that done. But if you're looking for dependably good food from a diverse menu, atmosphere, and service and a place for enjoying the company of friends and strangers, Harry's is the Great American Neighborhood Party in a restaurant. Pros: food, service, atmosphere Cons: sometimes long lines
