I have always enjoyed the Fat's Restaurant Chain but we recently tried Frank Fat's in Downtown Sac and it left me to think twice if I will ever try this place a second time around. The food was good but nothing exceptional. The place was very nice and clean but so, so dark. My party had a hard time reading the menu. Although the food was good, they were very small portions. I guess have the food served in Viceroy dinnerware makes up for the little portions. I think the biggest disappointment was the seating. There were only seven of us (normally more like 10-12) and we had such small table. Now, this is a Chinese establishment and I don't know why they do not have seating for a big group which is a disappointing. Not as if they ran out of tables as we were the first group of diners to walk in. Before, during and after dinner we felt rushed as we dont have room to place the dishes down on the table so they almost were stacked on top of each other. If there's only a few of you, this place will work (maybe) but come one families do celebrate and families do come in large numbers.
Pros: An institution, nice interior, clean establishment, good servers
Cons: Food can be better, small portions. Definitely not for large group or family more than 6
