I purchased a vehicle from a lot that ended up selling my account to Mariner Finance in July 09' now, the same month (July 09') I was laid off of my job and applied for unemployment. When my account went to Mariner Finance they had added a unemployment Insurance on the Car loan. Which at the time sounded needed. So anyway they (The Unemployment Insurance CO.) paid my loan payment during the time I was off of work unemployed but I had to come into the office weekly or even bi-weekly to sign forms to be submitted to them for the payment and bring my unemployement check to send a copy of it. well anyway. I alway spoke to the Manager who seem to be very nice and professional. So I just went back to work but it's a Temp assignment I came into the Office to bring my last Check to send to the Insurance Co. and while there the Manager asked about the new job and wanted to know how they were going to pay me etc. So he said just pay $100 a week when I get paid and they will work with that. I said ok thank you and he said we're going to work with you. so with that being said. the Friday I got my first check I went out of town for the weekend but stopped by the office and dropped off the $100 to them on Monday when I got back in town on Wednesday morning heading out to work I notice my car was gone I didn't see any glass on the ground so I thought about Mariner but didn't know why it would be picked up. well anyway I called them when the store opened and a guy their answered and he told me that I was 3 months behind. (remind you that the insurance company was paying my notes.) he could give me any info on the payments they have been paying etc. so then he said hold on I'll let you speak to the Manager (which is the one I normally speak too) he came to the phone. He came to the phone with an attitude and was getting upset because I was asking too many questions. He said that the Insurance Co. paid short some months. so I asked why he didn't tell me that and told me to only pay $100 wach week. he said it don't matter he has my car and it was behind he hung up on me twice because I was asking too many questions that he didn't want to answer. he told me that he didn't have to take my call because he don't normally come in until 9a but he went ahead and took my call off his shift. he told me that it would cause $660.xx to get the car back so I asked where could I go get my items out of the car until then. he said he don't know it could be at any of the many lots they use. He told me he would call me back when he finds out. hours later he called back to give me the information to get my items and I then asked to verify again the amount to get the car back and he said $ 8600.00 I then repeated the amount and said so I have to pay the payoff amount and he said YEAH! so I told him I will be going to get my items out of the car. I then asked for the name of the person over him and he said well you can talk to him but you can leave him a message I told him don't worry about it I'm going to get a lawyer and let him or her take care of all that. I think Mariner Finance is not a finance Co. You would want to work with because you will loose before you gain. They must be hurting for money and finding accounts to make quick bucks from.
