Mavericks Gym in Ventura CA will scam you out of your money when you try to cancel! First they wont let you cancel by calling or going to the gym. They make you mail a letter. Obviously they just do this to make it inconvenient for you to cancel. Then they tell you that you have to pay for the next month even if you cannot go to the gym the next month. This is a totally sleazy and fraudulent way of conducting business and they need to be shut down as they have been doing this for years to everyone who cancels a membership. If you try to argue and say you wont pay for the membership next month because you are canceling now they say its their ""policy"" and you signed a contract so they can take your money and there is nothing you can do about it! They also say if you try to stop payment on your bank account or credit card they will charge you an additional fee that you will have to pay along with the membership fee or they will send you to collections and mess up your credit! Mavericks Gym sells a service not a tangible product. That means you should be able to cancel anytime as it costs them nothing to terminate the service. People have been complaining about Mavericks unethical business practices all over the Web and that's why the Better Business Bureau gives them a D- rating. The best thing to do is file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Then file a complaint with the Office of the Attorney General, Then file a complaint with the FTC. The Federal Trade Commission enters all complaints it receives into Consumer Sentinel, a secure online database that is used by thousands of civil and criminal law enforcement authorities worldwide. Then file a complaint with Ripoff Report. Also be sure to post ratings & reviews on all the review sites like: 1. Insider Pages: 2. Yelp 3. Yahoo 4. Google 5. Citysearch 6. HealthClubs 7. Userinstinct 8. Trustlink In addition use social media sites like Twitter and Facebook to spread the word and warn people about Mavericks Gym’s bad business practices!
