In my opinion, and based on all the reviews I have read online and the severn complaints filed by the Better Business Bureau, JAMES AUTO should be shut down state of CT for unethical practices. They are operating by telling lies. I went to James Auto to buy a used car for my daughter who is a college student. Let me say this VERY clearly - The woman who runs the business ""Anna"" had us waiting for a car for almost four weeks after she said our loan was approved. She took our money - $1500. which she said included the taxes and the registration, then later siad it didn't include those things and tried to get more money out of us. She kept telling us that the car would be ready; then we would call and she wouldn't answer the phone so we would have to drive down - multiple times over the course of many weeks. She kept stalling and stalling and each day - there was a different story that contradicted her original story- it was one lie after another. Then she started with excuses like her printer wasn't working, her fax wasn't working, her phone wasn't working....after four whole weeks, we learned that the car did not pass emissions and she was trying to get it through by toying with the mileage and the engine light. Even when we asked her if it passed Emissions - she lied and avoided giving a straight ansswer. What is worse, is that she tells you that the car goes through a complete saftey inspection and she states that they check everything and that if anything is wrong with the car at all- it will get fixed and she will show you proof of that. On top of all of the lies and stalling, she was completely RUDE. She would have personal phone calls for 15 minutes at a time, while we sat waiting, trying to pry out of her what was going on with the car. She would hang up on us if we asked a question about the car and we would have to call back, then she wouldn't pick up the phone. She will tell you that she is going to do a ""safety check"" and fix anything wrong with the car - THIS IS A LIE. In addition, she will rush you through loan paperwork and try to get you to sign to extra, very expensive insurance that you don't need. Go to Rhode Island to Shannon Motors or any other place that sells used cars, but stay away from James Motors unless you want to lose your shirt. I've heard countless stories of cars that flat out died after they left the lot. And she doesn't want you to test drive on the highway. I had to threaten her with the police to get my down-payment back. When she knew I was going to report her, she wrote me a check - for the wrong amount ($400 less) and with my name wrong - I had to correct her and make her write it again, then she wanted proof of my down payment with a receipt as if she didn't already know what my down payment was - James Auto is a complete ripp off. BEWARE. No matter how desperate you are, do NOT buy a car here. You are better off going to Rhode Island or Milford Wiz Leasing.\r
