Ever heard Toby Keith's song ""I Love This Bar""? That's just how you feel when you walk into Characters. Friendly people. Some are shooting pool, some are playing darts, some are out on the patio relaxing, some are having a drink to celebrate the end of a workday or final exams, some are city employees, some are students, some are teachers, some are construction workers, some are loan brokers -- they become friends quickly. The owners go out of their way to say hello to newcomers. Bands play regularly, just check the schedule. Sometimes there's a lingerie show early on Friday where you can win an outfit or other item. Prices are reasonable, the characters are priceless. I'd like something in the way of snacks but there's plenty around. A good stop after leaving Characters is Joey's Bar-b-que for a to-go dinner.
Pros: In my city, easy to get to, parking okay, friendly people
Cons: No real food service
