Review content:
Was in Allentown to visit my parents, we decided to try Morgan's out, had heard about it from friends and really like the idea of a chef run restaurant, that specializes in using local foods. Not really the case at all! It's a fairly ordinary menu, sort of with an Italian emphasis, antipasta was OK, the entrees....well they really were terrible. I had the duck...which was cooked Ok, the vegetables were inedible, the potatoes were probably cooked at the beginning of the evening and were tasteless and cold. My partner had the pork tenderloin. Simply put. Awful!!!! Dried out, tough old pieces of meat. Do the cook everything early and then hope that it sells??\r
The decor is terrible, the setting is this great old countryhouse lots of stones and exposed beams, but then they put these horrible tacky fake plants everywhere and dusty lace curtains. So much potential wasted by bad decoration. They really should lose the chairs as well!\r
BUT meanwhile, they had one of the best wine lists I""ve seen in a really long time, Malbecs and great Zinfindels. And the prices are amazing! In any other place these bottles would be twice the price. And the service was great, attentive, sweet and friendly. \r
Overall, prehaps we expected way too much....nah, they just dropped the ball.
Pros: Wine list! Service
Cons: Food. Decor
