Review content:
We just ate at Macado's on Church in Roanoke. To sum up the experience in a word: embarrassing. We waited a few minutes to be acknowledged, but were then seated promptly. The decor is crazy- kind of a pumped up TGI Fridays - but the setup was nice enough. It was about 80 inside (on a lovely 52 degree day). Our waitress promptly arrived to take our drink order, a martini and beer. Sandwiches are clearly the focus here. With over sixty of them on the menu and no organized breakdown, bring a pad and paper to take notes! Plenty of appetizing options, though.\r The waitress brought the martini but let me know they were out of Heineken. Got a light beer instead. The martini was undrinkable (mostly vermouth) so my wife also ordered a beer. I ordered the Mexican potato skins, she ordered a sandwich with fries (instead of chips). She was quickly informed that there were no substitutions, but she could order the fries separately - no problem. After about 15 minutes, the waitress brought my wife's sandwich - with chips. Ten minutes later, she got her basket of fries (of the frozen, mealy school cafeteria variety) along with my skins. They were out of ketchup, so she announced that she had to give us packets. Again, no problem. My skins looked great (although they came with onion dip??), however I had never receivied a knife. When I asked for one, the response was ""let me see if I can find a clean one for you"". I kid you not! Having consumed my beer from the heat and wait, I ordered another. ""We only have one left - let me see if I can get it for you"".\r In the end, the sandwich was good, the skins very average and the fries pretty bad. The service was laughable. Terrible. Clearly, management needs to spend some time training the staff (including the person doing the ordering) to act like they care about customers and teach them what NOT to say in some instances. Neither of us will return and we will let everybody know to stay away from Macado's! Cons: Service, lack of inventory, did I say service?
