I had been going to the same hairdresser for 13 years: during his good and bad days, in his upper west side salon and then to his new salon in Astoria. After three horrific final cuts and highlights, I finally gathered the strength to find a new stylist. Everyone recommended to me were way too expensive and I finally gave up enough to just try the place around the corner from me, even without a recommendation. Surprise, it was amazing! Mayra is a godsend! She's fun and professional and made sense out of the mess that had been previously made to my hair. Her color was incredible too (the neatest foild I have ever seen). I've been back 3 or 4 times since (and am scheduling another appointment now), and she has been consistently fabulous.
Pros: Great cut, color and service; relaxed atmosphere; not too pricey
