Review content:
The inside of the restaurant is in significant contrast to its surroundings. Set along a sort of business complex, I was surprised that the interior atmosphere could so quickly change from the bustle of traffic to be so comfortable and quaint.\r
\r
After a brief wait, my wife and I were kindly greeted and seated in our choice between two tables. I had made a reservation for our mid-week visit, but I don't think that it was necessary. No more than half of the tables were occupied at any one time.\r
\r
I was expecting a relatively hefty pricetag on the menu, so the prices weren't alarming. We ordered two martinis, a decent bottle of wine, a salad to share, the beef wellington and a steak for $200 (including tax and gratuity).\r
\r
The salad was interesting - apple and cheddar with a blueberry yogurt dressing. The beef wellington was excellent and the steak was better than expected. The accompanying sauces were quite tasty. Our only disappointment was that the steamed vegetables seemed cooler than room temperature, accenting their bland and slightly overcooked flavor.\r
\r
Service was attentive without being either pushy or ignorant - and this is something I'm rather picky about. We went to have a relaxing meal and that is exactly what the service provided.\r
\r
A man visited our table for a few minutes, playing a saxaphone to accompany the quiet, smooth music playing in the background. This sort of thing usually frustrates me, but this was relaxing and welcome.\r
\r
Despite the perhaps higher-than-average price tag, my wife and I look forward to the opportunity to return to further explore their menu and enjoy the comfortable service. And I say that knowing that it's a 50-mile drive from our home.
Pros: Charming, tasty and relaxing
Cons: Vegetable preparation and delivery
