Review content:
I have been looking for an authentic french bakery in Atlanta and this is it! My boyfriend surprised me with the chocolate truffle cake from Alon's on my birthday this month and I've been hooked since then. We've always passed by and wondered what Alon's is all about, I only regret that we didn't check it out sooner! It is designed like a long line, begin on the left of the shoppe with the viennoiseries and pick up some chocolate croissants, the best double chocolate cookies, and different breads, next is the pastries and coffee, then the salad and sandwiches, and finally the prepared to-go foods. On the opposite side are the cheeses, wines, and refrigerated cases of various drinks and to-go items with the cashiers at the right end of the bakery. It's packed at all hours of the day so get there early, the chocolate croissants and sandwich baguettes run out fast. They really do have the best sandwiches in Atlanta; my favorite is the tunisian tuna - not your average tuna salad at all. Instead of mayo, it's marinated with lemon juice and has capers, potatoes, hard boiled eggs, and preserved lemon all on a baguette with harissa. The coffee is good and strong and the cheese and wine selection is small but wide. Definitely a haven for the gourmet fanatic/foodie like myself. Pros: pastries, bread, sandwiches, gourmet items Cons: very busy but the parking turnover is fast
