Review content:
I called for a quote from New Planet, and recieved one from Lauren. Her estimate put us at about $5,000 to move our 4 bedroom house from Sparks, Nevada to Wilmington, Delaware. Lauren asked me to list only the furniture that was being moved, as she was going to add boxes along the way in conjunction with the furniture. I told her several times that there was a lot of stuff to go into boxes, and to plan accordingly. I also told her that I really didn't think the load would go onto a single 26 ft truck, as I had moved everything in there, and it took more than that to move it in. She assured me that their professional movers could fit it all onto one truck without a problem. Even after she completed the bid, and came up with a weight of 7300 lbs, I asked that she add weight to that so we wouldn't be surprised by a bill at the end of the move, so her adjusted total estimate came to 8500 lbs.\r \r The morning of the move, 7-19-10, the movers showed up and began loading the truck. Several times, the movers, Jimmy and Andre called their home office to report that they may not be able to load the entire house onto one truck. The response from the office was to tell the movers that they were not professional, and they needed to load it all onto one truck, or else.\r \r At the end of the day, they could not fit the entire load onto one truck, despite repeated loading and unloading, and they said they'd come back with another truck in the morning.\r \r The next day, they came back with the same truck, which had about 10 ft of space cleared out of it. This was still not enough to finish the load, so they loaded the remainder of my household items onto the back bumper/loading dock of the truck, and secured it with packing tape. Upon seeing this, I ran to the local hardware store and bought some straps, as I was just disgusted, but couldn't wait any longer to get on the road.\r \r At no time did either the office or the movers inform me that I may be over the estimated weight.\r \r 3 days later, Joe, the office manager at New Planet called me and began yelling at me over the phone that we were overweight by 7500 lbs on the estimate, and they were going to charge an extra $5,650 to complete my move. I told him that both his words and his tone were unacceptable, and he had no right to speak to me in the manner he was. I also told him about the estimate that I had recieved from Lauren, including the assurance I got from Lauren that we would be able to fit inside her estimate without any problems. Joe then said that he would not speak to me about this any more, and that I needed to talk with Lauren or the owner directly.\r \r I called then on Friday, July 23 to speak with Lauren at 2:54 Pacific time. I identified myself and was placed on hold for 30 minutes, to where I finally hung up, and the phone call was never returned.\r \r The next correspondence I had from them was from Joe on Tuesday, July 27, who said the owner had offered to knock $650 off of my bill, and charge $5,000 for the remainder of my move. I let Joe know that this was unacceptable, and they were practicing fraud in their business. He then told me to file a complaint with the BBB, as they ""recommend"" New Planet's services. I let him know that I had already planned a complaint to the BBB, and that their bidding practices were still fraudulent. His response was ""so sue us"". I told him that was the next step. \r \r To date, it is July 29 and they still have no delivery date for my furniture. They have recieved the full estimated payment ahead of time. They have offered no proof of weight for my belongings, and have only offered a 5% discount for their poor handling of my move. Pros: - Cons: Fraudulent, liars, cheats
