Review content:
Very bad experience. My dog was suffering a 4-day bout of di*rrhea and, when I noticed bl**d, I became concerned. It was weekend/after hours so my vet referred me to DoveLewis. DVM (Debra Liu) was difficult to understand and initially came to me with a contract for an overnight stay with an estimate of $2500+. They will ask you to sign and pay this in advance. I thought that was excessive and unnecessary and asked if there was a more incremental approach and if I could take him home after tests. She came back with a ""counter-offer"" = $535 estimate to conduct tests (fecal, chem profile, x-ray) and for me to call back in 3 hours. She noted my dog was quite dehydrated (he was). I called back after 3 hours and DVM said all tests were inconclusive and that they should keep him. I refused and advised I would take him home. She said he would be ready for pick up in 1 hr. I went to pick him up, settled with billing ~ so I thought - they credited my account ~ $490 which, I found out some 2 months later when my CC was charged, was a mistake. They returned my dog to me who had *just* been given fluids (injection) after being there for 4 hours now and I left. Apparently they were to give me some meds, but forgot - they also reportedly called me several times, though I received no messages. They never mailed me anything until after I disputed the CC charges (2+ months after the visit) and requested copies of all services/tests provided (at this point I was very suspicious!).\r
My dog recovered fine at home within 2 days. I'm still unsure what sort of virus/parasite or whatever he had but a little ginger (orally) has resolved it and a subsequent case quickly.\r
So - I can appreciate the DVM's wanting to conduct every test possible but it is *very* disappointing that they were not able to find *anything* and that they did nothing beyond the tests until just prior to my picking him up (dehydration). I wonder how he would have done overnight. :( They were quite busy.
Pros: 24hr service
Cons: extremely expensive, disorganised, busy, impractical
