I have taken two different cats in there with serious emergencies with far more thorough, definite, systematic efforts on the part of the vets seeing them than anywhere else by far. I used to use SE portland animal hospital, and drive the extra distance to get to them, but the difference between the two animal emergency services is noticable from the front desk all the way to the bill.\r
With one of my cats it was unclear what was wrong with her, we just brought her in thinking her leg might be hurting her because she was making pain noises when she tried to stand up. They didnt hurt her further or waste out time trying to blindly figure out what was wrong. They simply and effectively ruled each thing out and quickly figure out that her breast plate had been broken! We got to keep the xray and they gave her the latest in pain management meds. You could tell she improved before we had even left the clinic.\r
When my sibling's dogs got poisoned it was the same thing. They knew exactly what to do and wasted no time (or extra money) trying to figure out what MIGHT work.\r
I asked for one doctor's regular practice # so we could see him for non-emergencies and he was so ethical he said the vets there couldnt advertise for their personal clinics while on duty at emergency.\r
I love that place for their sincere, no nonsense approach to helping an animal in serious need.
Pros: most thorough, cleanest, nicest, fast service
Cons: can't use them as regular vet, only emergency
