I am shocked and appalled by my experience with this Duane Reade pharmacy. When I presented my prescription, I was told that my medicine would have to be special-ordered and would arrive the following week. After SIX days, I went to Duane Reade to pick up my prescription, and after 10 minutes of searching for my prescription, the pharmacist realized that it was NEVER FILLED. Apparently, they had tried to fill my order with their supplier, but for whatever reason, they could not fill the prescription. Meanwhile, I am down to my last pills, wasted a whole week, was NEVER CONTACTED about the problem (which would have allowed me to look elsewhere), and had to find out that my prescription was never filled until I arrived to pick up my order. All the pharmacist could do was shrug and offer a pathetic apology. I eventually got my order filled at Ansonia on 6th Ave. in the West Village. I am looking into NY law to see if Duane Reade is in violation of any state rules or regulations. Bottom line - this Duane Reade pharmacy is a textbook example of how pharmacies should NOT be run. It is truly scary how unaccountable a pharmacy could be about someone's prescription medicine - I'm lucky my life doesn't depend on this prescription order, but I wonder if that would have changed anything?
