Review content:
I think it very unfortunate that Watkins' Appliance is still in business. I had a run in with this company & even though Mr. Watkins & his unethical repair man tried to rip me off & threaten to "ruin" my credit, I fought back. PLEASE remember there is always a way to avoid being ripped off. 1. Go the Business Bureau & look up the company report, 2. Go to the local department of consumer affairs & make a report, 3. You can actually file a small claims suit against the company (so I was instructed by an attorney), 4. Fight the collection agency ~ stand your ground, 5. It helps to make a public note of problem.
I never paid this guy a dime & I did make a Business Bureau report & I fought the collection agency. I turned Watkins and the collection agency over to the department of consumer affairs. I have not heard anything more from either party and there was no adverse credit report made. During my battle, I was told by the Business Bureau, there were several cases being reported against Watkins for similar poor business practices. After all this, I cannot believe this guy is still in business.
There is a way to avoid being blindsided by poor service. Compile a list of good businesses from anything from home remodeling to removing weeds from people you know - church members, neighborhood assoc., friends & co-workers & always check the Business Bureau site for any neg reports. Even though reports are resolved, does not mean the business is practicing ethically. I believe if a company will let the problem get as far as the Business Bureau, the business is not worth bothering with. Every year, I receive updated list, via e-mail with businesses from Nashville to Columbia ~ businesses are ranked on good service, timeliness of performing service, price, and why services recommend. Also, it's important to include businesses to avoid separately on your list.
I hope this info helps, but in terms of Watkins ~ stay away & tell everyone you know to stay away from him
Pros: none
Cons: Lack of ethical business practices ~ unreliable service 100% of time
