What was once the best Chinese food in Maine, has now become the worst. I used to drive over an hour out of my way just to eat here when I was near the Augusta area, now I would probably drive that far just to avoid it. The food and service are both sub-par now, which makes me think they must have gotten a new chef or changed owners, since everything has really gone so far downhill. Fatty chicken, inedible fried rice, nasty ""unique"" flavored sauces, to take up space- lots of extra celery where there was none before. Worst of all, they've even managed to somehow screw up simple appetizers! They used to have the best eggrolls, now they are so nasty they are expelled immediately. The breading for items like fried shrimp and chicken fingers kept everyone guessing as to what that strange ingredient is that just really makes them taste so bad. No one could figure it out. Actually the VERY worst thing.... they added soooo much extra MSG in an attempt to make the food palatable, that people who usually only get a mild reaction to it, had a full blown, take me to the hospital please, reaction. \r \r Just to give it a fair shake, thinking anyone can have an off night, we ate there again this same week with worse results. The restaurant was almost empty but any time we needed something from the waitress I had to stand to get her attention. I specifically ordered a dish because the waitress assured me it was not a sweet sauce, which another waitress agreed. When I got my dish, not only was it very sweet, but it also had lots of nuts, which was not listed on the menu. I tried to explain and order a new dish but I was told I still had to pay for the first one --- even though it was their mistake! Horrible food, horrible service, just plain horrible! What was once a tradition that everyone looked forward to during the Windjammer festival, has now become a fond memory of what used to be. It's hard to believe from last June to this, it has gone from best to worst. Sad. Pros: NONE -- you pay for their mistakes, refills not free, MSG overload to cover up BAD food Cons: Horrible food, horrible waitstaff/mgrs., AVOID AVOID AVOID
