No one said home remodeling would be easy. We found that out the hard way when we had 21 windows installed by Jantek this past summer. A few days after we had paid our final payment and signed off on the job we noticed that when our neighbors would grill, smoke would come into two of the rooms with the new windows, including my 3 month-old daughters room. We called and spoke with our sales rep (who has since retired) and after multiple phone calls and a visit from one of the junior installers were told that there was nothing we could do and if we were not happy with the work we should not have signed off on the job. \r
\r
Frustrated and angry, we hired a contractor a few months later to reinstall the windows. After we removed the aluminum capping we discovered why there was smoke coming into my daughter's room. There was no insulation around the window frames leaving a gap of up to 2 inches where air freely traveled between the windows and the house frame. The only thing keeping the outside out and the inside in was a thin layer of caulk around the interior brick mold trim. Additionally, we noted that the window frames were not flush with the house so we could only use Aluminum capping and could not trim the windows with any type of brickmold casing on the exterior. With the windows now fully exposed and just a few days before our contractor was to start reframing the windows, my wife decided to call Jantek again so they could inspect their work. Shortly after our call, Dave showed up at the house, he inspected the work, informed us that the windows were not installed to Jantek's standard and offered to replace the windows and do a complete reinstallation. 48 hours later Dave was back at our house measuring the windows and scheduling the reinstall.\r

After speaking with Dave it became very clear that Jantek values their reputation and are willing to do whatever it takes to make sure we were completely satisfied with the job and that the job meets or exceeds all industry standards. It appears that the initial less than satisfactory response was the result of poor communication and that our concerns never reached the appropriate person. Dave also assured me that Jantek has taken steps to ensure that this never happens again. At this point we are looking forward to have the windows correctly installed. To be honest having dealt with contractors on a previous house, I have never had a contractor come back and invest the time and effort to correct a problem 6 months after the initial install. There are a couple of more windows we need replaced next year and Jantek will be the first company I call.\r
