I've been a patient of Dr. Eiler for 5 years, and each time I visit her Hyde Park office, I'm left with the same feeling: she's a good doctor with a warm bedside manner, but her administrative staff and policies are the worst. The staff are sour, seem to hate their lives and their jobs, and act as if we (their patients) need to serve them, not the other way around. I guess this is endemic of healthcare in general, as doctors are guaranteed blocks of patients from insurance companies, and they never have to work at winning and keeping customers with great service. For example, I arrived 10 mins late to an 4:30pm appt, and the staff told me that I would have to go to the end of the line and possibly not be seen as the office closed at 5:30! I can't tell you how many times I've waited for them when they were running behind 45 minutes! Recently, I requested copies of my medical records as I was moving across country, and they mailed me a letter saying that it would cost me $27 ""because of declining reimbursements and practice costs, they are no longer able to afford to provide certain admin services without charge."" Last time I checked, they were billing my insurance co approx $100 for a 3 min office visit, which seems to adequately cover sending me a receipt of these services when requested. As a funny aside, requesting a ""jury duty excuse"" will cost you $10. So, if you care about service as well as medical care, please be warned.
