As a college student I used to go to topside all the time for wing night. It was a great experience. It was a place that your friends could get together have some wings and a couple drinks and have a great time. Today was the first day I've been there since they've gone under new management. First, they've tried to make it a sit down and eat a nice meal kind of place, yet when you enter there's no hostess stand or someone there to greet you, you just kind of wander in and hope someone sees you sit down. The entire place was dead, in the area we were sitting there was only one other group of people and there were a few people up at the bar. After sitting down our waitress brought us our drinks and we ordered the beef empanadas. It took them a while to come out of the kitchen and when we got them we weren't impressed, but they weren't awful. The time however, between the apetizer and our diners was way too long. My boyfriend had ordered the ribeye and I had ordered shrimp over mashed plantains with some sort of sauce. He ordered his steak medium and when it came out it was well done and burnt, the dish I was give looked great, but instead of mashed plantains it was more chunky. The plaintains were hard almost like undercooked potatoes. When I asked my waitress if they should be hard she said yes, that they were suppose to be thick like potatoes. Of all the plaintains I've ever had I've never had a hard one, honestly I don't think she knew what a plantain was. I tried to eat it but after a couple more bites of hard plantains and fishy shrimp I just couldnt. She took both our plates back to the kitchen. My boyfriend had them recook his steak and I ordered the chicken and rice dish with no olives. When we got our food they had forgotten to put the spice rub on my boyfriends steak which left him with a very bland piece of meat. When I got my dish the rice was gross and there were olives mixed in. When we finished, it once again took a long time for her to clear our plates and bring the check. When she brought the check it still had the shrimp dish on it which was a considerable amount more than the chicken. I would reccommend just staying away from topsides all together. The service and food sucked. The least they could have done was have the manager come over and apologize. I don't see this place lasting very long. For the amount of money they expect you to pay it's just ridiculous. Bring back the old topside. Pros: The place looks great. Cons: High Prices, Poor Service, Bad Food
