Review content:
While visiting San Fran on business I decided to go to china town with the idea being to find a really good place to eat and grab a cold beer. I spotted Cathay's while watching the California cable car go by. I swung back around and decided to give it a try. The place was pretty much empty at 6:00 pm so I was a little hesitant but sat down anyway. I immediately noticed a couple of waiters sitting at a table just kind of staring at me and not really doing anything. A waiter came by and said nothing, just put the tea down and left. Another waiter came by a few minutes later to ask if I wanted anything else to drink. I ordered a Tsingtao. After looking at the menu which has no help for english speaking people at all, just the names of the dishes I ordered pot stickers and Scallops with three mushrooms. By this time the beer showed up and it was cold and they gave me a glass to pour it into, the guy didn't pour it though which I thought was kind of lame. A few minutes later the pot stickers came and I thought it was odd that they were a bit burned on the bottom, not quite black but a really dark brown. Anyway, I ate them but they were just ok, not stellar. The scallops though were really good, not mushy like another review I had read. The mushrooms seemed fresh too and flavorful. The price was reasonable for the city. I just think overall they need to work on their customer service skills and step up the food just a little bit and it will be a whole lot better. I think I'll try this one more time the next time I come back.
