Review content:
After the concert on the square last night (05-27-2011) myself and several friends decided to move over to Hemingways. 15 minutes after entering the bar we were thrown out by the owner. Why were we thrown out? #1 The waitress asked that I give her a credit card to hold a tab for the entire group. There were about 12 in my group. I refused. I was one of two designated drivers and was only drinking diet coke. I can pay for my drinks without a credit card. #2 One of our group had a very small cooler (zip up lunch sized. Which was empty) that he hadn't taken back to his car prior to entering the bar. #3 one of our group was finishing a beer that she had not purchased in the bar. #4 When we walked into the bar the majority of the group immediately went to dance. 3 of us sat down at a table. Because the entire group didn't place an order right away. The owner saw that as a problem. All of these things are very normal considering we had just walked away from the concert on the square. The owner demanded that we leave immediately. When we ask for an explanation. he refused to speak to us other than to say ""I have the police on the phone. Leave now"". Let me clarify the dynamics of the group. There were about 12 of us. Most of us are in our late 40's to early 50's. We are not a young and rowdy group. The plan was to continue socializing after the concert. We would have spent a great deal of money in the bar last night. There's a concert on the Square in Mareitta every month. If we had been treated decently by the owner of Hemingways. We probably would have returned each month after the concert. Because of the treatment we recieved last night, and the absurd reason for throwing us out. I will never go back to hemingways again. The best thing that could happen to the patrons of the Marietta Square, would be for this bar to go out of business.
