Review content:
A disturbing comment was made by Shari Rymer, of the Stadium Bar & Grill on Tyler Blvd. Mentor, at a fundraiser on June 25th.\r
\r
When Shari was asked to replenish the buffet by one of the family members because people were waiting for food Shari replied “I have my people running like NIGGERS”.\r
\r
The planners of this event met with Shari the Thursday night before to go over the details and give her the final count. Shari replied “This isn’t my first rodeo; we do four of these things in a week”. Sounded like Shari had it covered and even though her attitude was not what we were expecting we felt she would handle it.\r
\r
It was obviously too much for Shari and her people. I can’t speak for other people who have had a fundraiser there but I am wondering if it was just because we were a mixed group of people. \r
\r
One of the guests overheard comment made at the bar by some of the regulars to Shari that “a little nigger kid was running around” and comments were made about one guest who was dressed different. \r
\r
I know Shari is not responsible for the comments her regulars make but she is responsible for what comes out of her mouth and it seems that there is a common theme that runs through the Stadium, modern day back of the bus racism. \r
\r
How sad to think this exists in a community (Mentor) that has rallied around this family who lost their little girl who attended Mentor Schools, who was a Mentor Sparkle Cheerleader, who changed the lives of everyone she met, who lost her battle with cancer. This event was to help the family with funeral expenses for their little girl. \r
\r
And you Shari...you need to think about this everyday for a while and examine the things in your life that are making you such a cold, angry, heartless racist. God does not like ugly. \r
\r
The irony of it all is that when we heard what the Stadium was doing to help people we thought you had to be the exact opposite of what you turned out to be.\r
