I have recently started shopping for an engagement ring. For the past several years I have heard good things about genesis and it was the first place I took my girlfriend. She doesn't know a whole lot about rings so I was hoping someone there could help her and show her different styles to help her find what she wanted. I explained this to the staff person that helped us and told him I would not be buying anything today. I told him that my price range was 3-4K and he told me that they had a very large selection in that range. He spoke with my girlfriend for a few minutes and looked at a few rings. After she found one that she liked, it pretty much turned into ""ok let's sell you this ring"" and no longer look at any others. It became very apparent that he was trying to push her into this ring. Finally I spoke up and said ""could you show us some other styles so she can see her options"" and he replied with ""Well, for that price range we really don't have anything else."" Then implied that if i wanted a nice ring i'd have to change my price range. At that point I had had enough of the pushiness and inability to help. I'd understand if they were busy or something but they weren't. They advertise that they are patient and are willing to help and educate their customers but obviously they were not.\r

The rest of the staff were very nice to me and my son while we were waiting. However, one woman was very inappropriately dressed. At one point she leaned over to talk to my son and she almost fell out of her dress. That is very inappropriate for a 3 year old. I can't think of a more awkward situation than taking your girlfriend that you want to marry to a jewelry store while the sales person is pretty much flashing you. She was very nice and the owner was very nice as well.\r

They seemed to have a very nice selection but I couldn't really get any information about the jewelry because the sales person we were working with didn't really want to show us anything. It wasn't just me either. The next day I spoke with my girlfriend about it and told her that I had higher expectations for them. She said she was ""relieved"" because she didn't like the experience at all but didn't want to say anything because of how much I ""thought"" I would like the place. I was turned off and won't be making my purchase from them. \r

I'm sure that they are quite capable of giving good deals and the other reviews on this site show that they are more than likely a quality place to shop. But my experience was less than good and I won't be returning.
Pros: Most of the staff were very nice, nice selection
Cons: Staff person was pushy, and unhelpful
