Review content:
This place advertises itself as having the best panini on Thayer Street, plus salads and soups made from the freshest ingredients. Not true! We tried all three, and although we were starving the food was so bad we couldn't finish it. A couple of things tipped us off that this place might not be all that it claims to be.\r
\r
First, the guy sitting at the cash register was eating his lunch. Obivously, people need to eat. Perhaps this is a pet peeve of mine, but I've never been to a good restaurant where employees eat in front of customers. Ever.\r
\r
Second, the person taking our order went into the kitchen, presumably to tell the cook. A minute later, he came out looking a little alarmed and whispered something into the ear of the other guy (presumably his ""boss""), who immediately went into the kitchen. Since we were the only customers in the place, the whispering must have been about our food. Well, since we had already paid, we decided to take a chance with the food.\r
\r
Unfortunately, the food panned out to be, as expected, quite mediocre. The sandwich was cold, sour, and tasteless. The soup was clearly out of a can, and watered down so much it was basically red-color hot water with limp vegetables floating in it. The salad was a gigantic mound of spring mix with mediocre dressing, a few skimpy slices of tasteless mozzarella and mealy tomatoes. Nothing had flavor or seemed fresh. Rather, they just seem to use lots of cheap fillers in their food. To add insult to injury, the staff has a bit of an attitude.
Pros: Only place that serves gelato on Thayer
Cons: Everything else!
